The only way you could purchase a diamond or precious gemstone was to buy in a jewelry store. Otherwise, if a ring has a closed back, it is probably rhinestone, in which case the back is often closed in order to conceal the foil that has been applied to the back of the stone. Zircon, a stone found in nature that is often confused with cubic zirconia (CZ), a man made imitation, is relatively hard but very brittle, so it will almost always show chipping at the edges of the facets if the stone has been worn in jewelry for a year or more.
Explanation of Cut, Color and Clarity of This Diamond
Cut Quality Diamonds cut to ideal proportions are made to reflect the most amount of light. High percentage of diamond weight is lost in the process of shaping and polishing the diamond. Such diamonds are perceived as most brilliant and fiery, thus making this the most desirable cut. Because in making ideally cut diamonds more diamond material is sacrificed for the sake of appearance, they are usually more expansive.
Color An E color diamond is extremely rare and slightly less expensive than a D but is so similar that most people won’t be able to tell the difference. You pay a serious premium for an E color diamond. Diamonds of this color grade will appear colorless even when observed face down.
Clarity VS1 clarity diamonds are very slightly included grade one. VS1 diamonds are less expensive than the VVS1 or VVS2 grades and present an excellent value. They have minor inclusions that are bigger and more noticeable than in higher clarity grades, but they are only visible at 10x magnification. To the naked eye, these diamonds will appear unblemished.
